Dentition — Morbid.---
Calc. Phos. 3,gr.V.8h. In pale children of soft fiber, teeth late in appearing.
Kreasote. 6, 8h. In thin, irritable, cachectic children, extreme agitation and wakefulness whilst the teeth are being cut, the teeth often decaying as soon as they appear.
Tereb. 3-30, 2h. With suppression of urine; child wakeful at night; screams as if frightened; startled look, clenches fingers; twitching; picks nose; burning soreness and swelling of gums; otitis,
Borax 30, 4h. With aphthae, children start on any sudden noise; dread downward motion.
Toothache.—
Plantago 3, every ten minutes. Begin in most cases, if the indications for another drug are not clear. Plantago q may also be rubbed on the gum, or applied externally on the face over the painful nerve; or inserted, on cotton wool, into the ear of the side affected. [If this fails to relieve or cure within a few hours, the following should be given as indicated.]
Merc. sol. 6, 1h. Where there is inflammation at the root of a decayed tooth.
Apis 3x, 1h. When there is much swelling as well as inflammation, and afterwards Merc. Sol. 6, 1h.
Kreas. 3, 1h. When the teeth are carious, but no signs of inflammation or gumboil are present. [Kreas. cures a large number of cases and may be given as a routine remedy to start with.]
Staph. 30, 1h. Black, crumbling, carious, exfoliating teeth, very sensitive to touch and to cold drinks.
Coff. 3—30, 1h. Toothache > by cold water.
Spigel. 3, 1h. When the teeth are sound.
Kali Carb. 6, 4h. Toothache when eating.
Calc. C. 6, 4h. Toothache from cold air or cold drink; teeth cannot endure air or any coldness; toothache only when eating.
Bry. 3, 4h. Pain when eating; from drinking warm things; from motion; > when lying down; or when lying on painful side; arising from cold; teeth feel too long; molars on right side chiefly affected.
Puls. 3, 1h. Toothache on taking anything warm into the mouth, > by cold water, > in the open air and from uncovering, < by warmth.
Cham. 6, 1h. Toothache made < by warm food or drink; when warm in bed at night; pain intolerable. [Chloroform on cotton wool inserted into a hollow tooth, or into the ear on the same side, will give temporary relief. Kreasote inserted into a hollow tooth in the same way as chloroform, and Friar's balsam, or Spirit of Camphor rubbed on the gum, are useful local measures.]
Toothache of pregnancy.---
