Give your hair a treat in the form of either almond oil, coconut oil, olive oil or castor oil rubbed well into the hair and scalp, leave it on overnight or for at least a couple of hours before washing it. Excess oil in your hair is caused by overactive sebaceous glands in the scalp. Watch your diet and cut down on fatty, greasy foods and animal fats. Hormone imbalance, poor thyroid function, stress and tiredness may also be problems.
Take a supplement of brewer's yeast and kelp to improve the condition of your hair. Infusions of lemon balm, yarrow, calendula, horsetail, lavender, mint, rosemary and witch hazel can be added to your shampoo recipe, they can also be used as hair rinses, as can lemon juice. Add 1 teaspoon of sea salt to every 50 grams of shampoo that you use to reduce oiliness.
