Menstrual Headaches And Migraine
Herbal Treatment For Headaches
There are many herbs which have been used for centuries to treat headaches and migraine.
They include.
Pulsatilla Rosemary
Wood Betony Chamomile
Lemon Balm Dandelion Root
Lavender Feverfew
Peppermint Ginger
Skullcap Valerian
Take your herbal remedy over several cycles, not just when you have the pain.
Where you feel that tension and stress are playing a part, use relaxing herbs such as:
Pulsatilla Chamomile
Linden Blossom Vervain
Skullcap Wood Betony
Lavender Rosemary
Passionflower Hops
If you tend to feel cold easily and have poor circulation, you can use herbs that increase
the circulation, particularly to the head.
These include:
Ginger Cayenne
Rosemary Thyme
Wood Betony Feverfew
Peppermint
You may find that liver remedies help, especially if you suffer from digestive problems or
sluggish bowels.
Choose from:
Dandelion Root Yellow Dock Root
Burdock Wormwood
Rosemary Feverfew
Hormone balancing herbs should always be included in your prescription. Take either Chaste
Tree or False Unicorn Root or both. Some herbs contain natural salicylates (contained in
aspirin) and can help to relive head pain. These include Black Cohosh and Meadowsweet.
Regularly use of Feverfew will help to prevent migraine. Pick one leaf straight from the
plant and eat it in a sandwich every day. Chewing the leaves alone can cause mouth ulcers in
some people.
Essential oil can be applied directly to the head to relieve head pain - Rosemary oil is
the best known for this purpose. You could also use Chamomile, Lemon Balm, Lavender or
Peppermint oil. A few drops of essential oil can be added to the bath, or used in a massage oil
to relive tension in the neck and shoulders.
